The winery San Silvestro is located in Novello, in the heart of the Barolo district. Currently run by the family’s fourth generation, the quality of the wine they produce honours the work their family did that’s allowed them to be where they are today. The wine cultivated at San Silvestro reflects the values they’ve learned from their ancestors: consistency, authenticity and innovation. Each glass embodies these three principles to produce wines that showcase the uniqueness of this great area.
There aren’t specific historical documents proving the ancient origin of the Arneis variety. The first references date back to 1800. Roera, Arneis’ area of origin with its perfect terroir is situated in the hills that rise on the left of the Tanaro river. Here it finds the light, sandy soils that it prefers, with good exposure to the southeast and southwest. Also, the climate and rare spring frosts influence the hearty yield of Arneis, which represents the finest Piedmont white variety.
