My name is Alain LEGRET, independent wine grower and wine maker, which means I owe my vines, my wine press, my tanks, my wine cellar and so on, to ensure the quality of my Champagne. I embody the 4th generation of a Champagne maker family. The activity started in 1920 and I joined it in the 90’s.
We naturally grow the grapes and make our champagnes without using chemicals. As a result, in 2017, we got the French environmental certification TERRA VITIS. To ensure the reality of our standard everywhere in the world, we also entered in 2018 the first year of the conversion period (Wine C1) to get the official EU organic certification. We are part of the pathfinders since only 2% of the Champagne region grown area is organic (data from CIVC – Comité Champagne 2018).
CHAMPAGNE LEGRET & FILS is also a pioneer in the Champagne region and in France since we use neither any animal derived products nor the animal workforce from the vines to labeling. « Organic » does not mean « vegan » and « vegan » does not mean « organic ». But,
to our mind, both approaches have to be combined so as to be coherent and transparent towards our customers and partners.
